Chromosomes in Spinach

Spinach is an annual plant (dies over winter), growing as tall as 30 cm (1 ft).Spinach is very nutritious, a quantity of 100 g of spinach contains over four times the recommended daily intake of vitamin K! Spinach has 6 chromosomes which is typical for its plant family, Caryophyllales.

Chromosomes in Cotton

Cotton is looks like a little puff and is no bigger than the average palm. It is extremely old dating back to 3,500 BC. Cotton has 13 pairs of chromosomes (26 in all). Upland and Pima cotton have 26 pairs of chromosomes, 52 in all, amounting to two complete genomes.

Chromosomes in Sugarcane

Sugarcane grows in hot, wet places near water sources, the stems vary in colour, being green, pinkish, or purple and can reach 5 metres (16 feet) in height.Sugarcane is probably the crop with the most complex genome, an average sugarcane plant has 80 chromsomes in total.
